QR codes you can change anytime — and actually measure.
Dynamic QR codes route every scan through Global QR Codes, so you can edit the destination after printing, track every scan in real time, and add expiry, scan limits, password protection, and retargeting pixels — all without ever reprinting the code.
What is a dynamic QR code?
A dynamic QR code does not encode your destination directly. Instead, it encodes a short link that points back to Global QR Codes, which instantly forwards the scanner to wherever you want. Because the printed image only ever points to that short link, you can change the destination, pause the code, or add rules at any time — and the same printed code keeps working.
That one difference unlocks everything static codes can’t do: editable destinations, live scan analytics, and access controls. Not sure it’s worth it? See seven situations where a dynamic code pays for itself.
Everything a dynamic code unlocks
Edit, measure, protect, and market your codes long after they are printed.
Edit the destination anytime
Made a typo, changed a campaign URL, or moved a landing page? Update the destination in seconds. Every printed, packaged, or published code updates instantly — no reprinting, no reordering.
Real-time scan analytics
See total scans, unique scans over time, and where your audience is scanning from by country and city. Analytics are only possible with dynamic codes, because every scan passes through our redirect first.
Expiration dates
Set a date and time after which the code stops working. Perfect for limited-time offers, event access, and seasonal campaigns you do not want lingering.
Scan limits
Cap a code at a maximum number of scans. Once the limit is reached it stops redirecting — ideal for exclusive drops, capacity-limited events, and one-per-customer promotions.
Password protection
Require a password before the code reveals its destination. Put a code out in the open while keeping the content restricted — staff instructions, members-only menus, and gated downloads.
Retargeting pixels
Fire your own Meta, Google, TikTok, or LinkedIn advertising pixels the moment someone scans — so a physical scan can build a retargeting audience you can advertise to later. Add your pixel IDs, and we handle scanner consent for you, including a built-in consent prompt for visitors in the EU, UK, and Switzerland.
10 content types
Website links, WhatsApp, email, phone, SMS, Wi-Fi, vCard contact, plain text and more. Any link-based type can be made dynamic and tracked.
Full design control
Custom colors, patterns, corner styles, logo embedding, and an icon library — then export in PNG, JPEG, SVG, or PDF for print-ready quality.
Popular ways to use dynamic codes
Marketing campaigns
Swap destinations between promotions while keeping one printed code across all your materials.
Product packaging
Point to the right page for the current season, then repoint it next quarter without a new print run.
Restaurants & menus
Update your menu instantly, and password-protect a staff-only version.
Events
Set an expiry so a code stops working after the event, or cap entries with a scan limit.
Retail & promotions
Run a limited drop with a hard scan cap, or gate a coupon behind a password.
Business cards & signage
Track engagement and keep your contact details current forever.
Retargeting & ad campaigns
Turn print, packaging, and out-of-home into a top-of-funnel channel. Scanners can be added to your ad platform audiences, so you can retarget people who engaged with your code in the real world.
From print to insight in six steps
- 01
Create your code
Pick a content type and enter your destination.
- 02
Make it dynamic
Toggle on dynamic mode to enable editing and tracking.
- 03
Add rules (optional)
Set an expiry date, a scan limit, or a password.
- 04
Connect your pixels (optional)
Add your Meta, Google, TikTok, or LinkedIn pixel IDs to build retargeting audiences from every scan. Consent is handled for you.
- 05
Download & share
Export in the format you need and put it anywhere.
- 06
Track & adjust
Watch scans roll in and change the destination whenever you like.
Dynamic vs. static
Choose dynamic if you want to edit destinations after printing, measure scans, or add expiry, limits and passwords. Choose static if your content will never change and you don’t need analytics — like a permanent Wi-Fi code or a fixed contact card.
Dynamic QR code questions
- Does the QR image change if I edit the destination?
No. That is the whole point of a dynamic code — the printed image stays identical while you change where it points behind the scenes.
- Why can’t static codes be tracked?
Static codes encode the destination directly, so scans go straight to the content and never pass through us. Only dynamic codes route through our redirect, which is what makes tracking, expiry, limits, and passwords possible.
- What analytics do I get?
Total and time-based scan counts plus location breakdowns by country and city.
- Is password protection real security?
It is access gating, not encryption. It stops casual and unauthorized access, but anyone who has the password can share it. Use it to restrict content, not to protect highly sensitive data.
- Which plan do I need?
Dynamic codes and analytics are available on Pro and Business. Expiration, scan limits, and password protection are Pro features. Free includes static codes and full design tools.
- What are retargeting pixels?
They are small snippets from advertising platforms — Meta, Google, TikTok, and LinkedIn — that let you build audiences of people who engaged with your brand. When you add your pixel IDs to a dynamic code, scanning it can add that person to your retargeting audience on those platforms, so you can advertise to them afterwards.
- Do I need consent to use retargeting pixels?
In many regions, yes. We make it straightforward: visitors in the EU, UK, and Switzerland see a consent prompt before any pixel loads, we honour Global Privacy Control signals, and bots are excluded automatically. You remain responsible for your own privacy disclosures and for how the advertising platforms use the data — you’ll confirm this when you switch pixels on.
- Which pixels are supported?
Meta (Facebook) Pixel, Google tag, TikTok Pixel, and the LinkedIn Insight Tag. You can enable any combination on a per-code basis.
- Is this a Pro feature?
Yes. Retargeting pixels are available on Pro and Business, alongside dynamic codes, analytics, expiry, scan limits, and password protection.
